Synopsis:

Two old school friends of the Prince have been summoned to court. That's all that they know. They don't know why they're wanted but when the king tells you to turn up you aren't going to argue.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern is a comedy which, as it were, takes places in the wings of shakespeare's play Hamlet. Its first production made the writer Tom Stoppard's reputation virtually overnight. The wit, stagecraft and verbal verve remain as exhilarating as at first, and the play has become a contemporary classic.
